Website: photos stay on your device

The centering website measures photographs in your browser. Your photograph is not uploaded to our server. We use no cookies, advertising trackers or analytics. Your language and chosen card size may be stored locally in your browser. Standard requests to load the website still reach our hosting provider.

API, MCP and the Centering Lab GPT: photos reach the server

If you use the measurement API, MCP tool or GPT Action, your photo is sent to, or downloaded by, the Centering Lab server. We decode and measure it only in memory, return the result and release the photo from application memory after the request. We do not save photos, filenames, file IDs, complete image URLs or measurement results to disk. Temporary image download links are not recorded. Photos are not added to a dataset or used to train a model by Centering Lab.

We keep a small technical log: API route, success/error status, processing time, request byte count and a truncated network address (IPv4 /24 or IPv6 /48). It contains no photo content and no full network address. The deployment stores these logs in a separate memory-only system journal with retention configured to 7 days, hourly rotation and a 16 MiB size limit; earlier removal can occur on restart or when the size limit is reached. Full network addresses are used only in temporary in-memory rate-limit counters, until the end of the current UTC day plus up to one minute for cleanup. There is no permanent user account or request history. API/MCP access logs at the reverse proxy are disabled for these routes.

We do not sell photos or personal data, or share them with other users or grading companies. We use the information above to operate the service, limit abuse and diagnose failures. The API does not send your image to another AI service for measurement.

If you upload a photo to ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant, that provider already receives it and applies its own privacy and retention rules. Our processing policy does not remove the original attachment from that conversation. Choose the website if you want centering measurement without uploading your photo to us or an assistant.

For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@centeringlab.com. Photos and results are not retained by Centering Lab, so we cannot retrieve an earlier photograph or measurement.
